He was also in the miniseries The Betrothed in 1989. Part of the Norma-Warners contract was that Lancaster had to appear in some non-Norma films, of which this was one. In 1968, Lancaster was elected to serve as chairman of the Roger Baldwin Foundation, a newly formed fund-raising arm of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California.
